Liberty Worship Centre is commonly known as the most exciting church in the Uganda's capital Kampala. With a population of 8,000 members the church is yet set to expand further at the completion of the cathedral. see the construction process
The Liberty Worship Centre - International was founded by Pastor Imelda Kula Namutebi in Uganda's capital, Kampala. At inception, in 1997, without a following or members but only the command of God, Pastor Imelda stepped out on faith, knowing that God had called her to establish a presence in the heart of the city.
In submission to God, she began at a one acre open compound on Kisingiri Road. With nothing Pastor Imelda established the church’s humble beginnings. Undaunted by the conditions and surrounding, she setup and nailed up a sign that proclaimed “Liberty Worship Centre Church” - which held daily evening services. Her prophetic and teaching style coupled with the diverse gifting of God on her life, was so electrifying and captivating that people began to spread the word – the membership grew.
By 2000, the church was involved in weekday city lunch hour services, live radio and television broadcast both broadcasts aired weekly. This media rapidly reached thousands of people in homes across the broadcast area. Her messages of faith, anointing, and seeding ignited a passion in the congregation to believe and to give sacrificially towards the purchase of three and a half acres of land. The land would be the new location for the ministry, and a sanctuary to God’s Glory.
In August of 2003, the construction of the Liberty Cathedral began. The sanctuary is set to be with state-of-the-art worship house in the city, from platform, seats, floor, sound, video, and administrative offices. see the construction need.
Under the dynamic leadership of Pastor Imelda, the Liberty Worship Centre Church is taking on new heights in spiritual growth. Liberty Worship Centre - Kampala, and Liberty Worship Centre – Johannesburg serve as beacons to the world that taking God at His word ushers us into the world of “Uncommon faith, miracles and increase.”
